Aldi Run

I only wanted a few items. I'm trying to get used to Aldi. They did not have cream of tartar.

Naming Our Abode

So I see where so many bloggers give their homes/apartments names. I don't know how they arrive with these names but it's given me inspiration to name my humble abode. We live in a subdivision so it seems kind of wrong to give it a name that sounds like a country estate. So....... Drumroll please....... I've chosen Cardinal Cottage. The Cardinal is our state bird and we have loads of them flying around!!

This snow needs to leave Cardinal Cottage or is it staying around waiting for more?

I Love Candles

I love the warm glow. It makes any room feel cozier. Don't you agree?  And don't get me started on Yankee Candles-especially the Home Sweet Home scent. It smells so good.

Plus for some reason candles are calming to me. Their light reminds me of the one and only true Light-Jesus Christ the light of the world.

It's Too Cold

It's too cold for this part of North Carolina. I know yall up north will say quit your whining but we don't have this kind of cold very often.

Being frugal can make being warm a challenge. But I refuse to freeze or burn up in my house. I am not going to dress in multiple layers to keep warm. By multiple I mean anything over 2 items. I simply won't do that. I will cut other spending to accommodate for it.

What do you do?

Here We Go

This is what it looked like last year in a snow storm. We made national news. They are calling for a similar situation Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning.  Oh boy.

Movie Love

Love love love Julie Julia. I think it's so cute. I myself am not a great cook. 😄

It's cold here in North Carolina and they are calling for snow.  Oh goodness this could get ugly. We tend to panic down here.

Oh well it's pretty here in the early morning.

PTO (Paid Time Off)=Money in the Bank

For those of ya'll who work outside of the you receive PTO?  If so do you use it as fast as you get it or bank it?  Where I work we are allowed to carry over 240 hours each year.  Anything over that is lost if not used by December 31.

I've been thinking a lot lately how this really is money in the bank.  If you have an extended illness you will get paid as long as you have the time.  I know some folks use it pretty much as soon as they get it and that is their choice but I wonder if they consider the future at all.  This would really be helpful especially if you don't have a large emergency fund.

What do you think?  I'm not asking people to never take time off but I think we all should look at this benefit with new eyes.
