Do You Have a Frugal Beauty Regimen?

So I read Frugal Queen's frugal routine and thought I'd share mine.

I use Cetaphil to wash and moisturize my face.  I have sensitive skin and this is what the P.A. at the dermatologist office said to use.  It does pretty good and I can get a big bottle of the cleanser for a tad under $10.00.  The tube of lotion is about the same price.

I use Curel as my body lotion.  Once again my sensitive skin needs something for itching and I have found this works the best for me.  This size bottle usually runs about 8.99 at Target or Walmart.  Sometimes Target has a buy 3 get a $5 gift card.

I just purged a TON of makeup a couple of weeks ago.  I don't have a lot left.  I don't wear a lot of make up but I do need foundation because of my sensitive skin, it gets red easy.  This Clinique foundation helps with the redness the best.  I also use Bare Minerals foundation sometimes.  The blush and mascara are Maybelline (can't get much cheaper than that!).    In the background is a scent I wear sometimes..........Victoria's Secret Love Spell.  I got this when VS had a special on it.The body butter is a bit strong.  It can make me sneeze sometimes.  LOL

I have another skin condition that according to my doctor, needs an antibacterial soap to help keep it under control.  I was quite surprised when I found out that Dial did not eat up my skin.  I prefer the body wash but I'm having a really hard time finding the body wash in the regular gold formula.  I guess if I can't find more of it I will use the gold soap bars.    I originally bought like 8 bottles of the body wash but I don't have a lot left over.  I think the price was $4.99 a bottle.

Like Frugal Queen I also use St Ives apricot scrub on my face in the shower.  I don't use it every day but it doesn't bother my skin and I like how smooth my skin feels after using it.

So tell me............do you have a routine?  Is it frugal or do you splurge on your beauty?

Credit Cards...........Do You or Don't You

Question:  do you use credit cards at all?  Some use them and pay off at the end of the month and others have the mindset of Dave Ramsey and say no way Jose!  I assume they make hotel reservations using a debit card?  Now one thing I do know is it is easier to dispute charges on credit cards vs debit cards.  So where are you on this spectrum?

The reason I ask is dh always finds something to do or somewhere to go that at the time of purchase, like the Springsteen tix for last night, we don't have the $$ in the checking account.  When I ask do we have the money?  He gets all annoyed.  So he gets the tickets and I end up paying it off but it annoys me that he doesn't seem to get it.  I don't want to use a credit card but have found it very hard when making reservations etc................

Easter Lunch

We had a delicious Boar's Head spiral cut ham, green bean casserole, a new type of potato salad, deviled eggs and Sister Schubert's rolls.

MMM mmm good.

The gb casserole, deviled eggs and potato salad are not expensive at all.  The rolls, well I do not make my own bread.  The ham was expensive however after cleaning up we are getting an additional meals out of it so in the long run it wasn't too bad.

How was your Easter lunch?

Backyard Farming

Look at what I found in my book box!
I hope this helps me in my homesteading attempts and adventures.

He is Risen

He is Risen indeed!!

Do You Hang Your Clothes Out to Dry?

I know that some folks think that hanging out the laundry on a line is the epitome of frugal/simple and environmental living. Well for people like myself who are deathly allergic to pollen, rag weed and all kinds of stuff outside, it can be quite dangerous.  That is why I do not hang out any clothes.  I take 1 antihistamine plus Singulair every single day of my life to be able to breathe like a normal person.  I use a dryer.  I do hang some pieces that really shouldn't be in a dryer but other than that I crank up the old dryer.  Shh....................don't tell the frugal police.  LOL

Frugal Groceries

So I don't do a lot of couponing although I do clip some every now and then.  We buy a lot of generic products at the grocery store and that does saving some money.  I didn't use coupons today but I did save some serious money today just using my Harris Teeter Vic card.

I spent $21.61 and saved $21.80 just using my loyalty card.  Not too bad, eh?

The Mrs. Meyer's was 2 for the price of 1 at Whole Paycheck, oops I mean Whole Foods.  I know this dish detergent isn't on the frugal scale but I really like it plus I love the Rosemary scent.  So I scooped up this deal when I ran across it.

Are Your Friends Frugal?

I mean other than the frugal blogger friends?  I personally don't really know anyone who is interested what I am.  I mean I have some acquaintances who are into organic food and environmental issues, which I do admire, but...........I find that I can not be organic with all of our food.  It is way too expensive.  I have a Facebook page and I just don't see any of my friends showing interests in homesteading or chickens or what have you.  Sometimes I feel like a blast from the past.  I tried to go to a simple living group a few years back on meet up but only one other person showed up and we didn't really click.  Her idea of simple living was different from mine.  She seemed more philosophical where I wanted to meet folks who live it not just talk about it so I could get some pointers.

Are you a Lone Ranger or do you have posse?

I Love to Read

I have a ton of books to get to.  Most of them are mysteries but I one of the books I am reading is A Table by the Window by Hillary Manton Lodge.  I've just started it but so far it's really good.  It's about an Italian/French family and wanting to start another restaurant and the main character is a food writer but soon to be in the family business.  I look forward to reading it all the way through.

Can burned muffins be rescue?

So..........in an attempt to start cooking more from scratch I made some pimento cheese muffins.  I got the recipe from Plain Chicken.  The first batch came out very pretty, not so much with the second.  I did not hear the beeper going off and let's say they are a bit crunchy.

What can I do with them?
Obviously the one on the left is crispy while the one on the right is just right!

I'm Asking for Prayers

for me.  I can't go into detail because I have no idea if anyone I know personally reads this blog or not but please pray for me.  I'm going through some stuff, some pretty big stuff at work.  It's hurt me deeply and friendships are at risk.  I'm shocked at what has happened this week.  I'm not saying I'm the innocent one and that everyone else are the bad guys but in this particular situation I have been blindsided.
